"Mechanical Engineering is an engineering discipline that involves the application of principles of physics for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It requires a solid understanding of key concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics and energy. Mechanical engineers use these principles and others in the design and analysis of automobiles, aircraft, heating & cooling systems, manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, medical devices and more."

One of several recognized fields of engineering. To grasp the meaning of mechanical engineering, it is desirable to take a close look at what engineering really is. The Engineers' Council for Professional Development has defined engineering as the profession in which a knowledge of the mathematical and physical sciences gained by study, experience, and practice is applied with judgment to develop ways to utilize economically the materials and forces of nature for the progressive well-being of mankind. It is a profession in which study in mathematics and science is blended with experience and judgment for the production of useful things.

Established in 1994 with an intake of 60 students, the undergraduate program in Mechanical Engineering, MESCE is currently having an intake of 60 students. The program also entertains a lateral entry in UG for diploma holders as per AICTE norms in the third semester. In addition to this regular course, department endeavors to conduct various short-term and training programmes .

The Department has well equipped laboratories and computing facilities, with latest technology and syllabus requirements. The department faculty rooms and the laboratories are connected by the institute LAN linking with all other departments and the Internet world outside.

Well qualified faculty and skilled supporting staff are the strengths of the department.

VISION & MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT

VISION:
To develop the Department into a premier destination of international level for advanced learning in Mechanical Engineering and to mould quality engineers to serve the society through creative solutions.
MISSION:
To mould engineers who would be able to apply the basic Science and Mathematics with confidence in professional activities for the benefit of all. To make our graduates experts in practical problem solving with abstract thinking skills. To make our students life-long learners capable of building their careers upon a solid foundation of knowledge and competent in communicating technical materials and concepts in individual and group situations.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs):
After 3-4 years of graduation, our students will be able to:
PEO1:
Demonstrate their skills in technical profession and/or higher education by using the acquired knowledge in Mathematics, Science and Engineering fundamentals.
PEO2:
Analyze the real life problems and propose sustainable design solutions for specific needs through applications of Engineering principles.
PEO3:
Recognize the ethical responsibility as engineers and judiciously serve their peers, employers and society for the benefit of all.
PEO4:
Practice life-long learning by continuing up- gradation of possessed skills.

PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)
At the end of four year programme the students (graduates) will be able to:
PSO1:
Demonstrate basic knowledge in Mathematics, Science and Engineering.
PSO2:
Design, manufacture and analyze a Mechanical system using modern Engineering software tools and measurement systems.
PSO3:
Cognize concepts involved in thermal and fluid energy systems.
PSO4:
Utilize self education to develop lifelong learning to appraise and adapt global and societal contexts to propose Engineering solutions.
