2 day workshop on 'Modern waterproofing concepts & Building Information Modelling'

Civil Engineering Department of MES College of Engineering, Kuttippuram is organising a ‘Two day workshop on Modern Waterproofing concepts and Building Information Modeling’ on 22^nd & 23^rd November 2018. The programme is organized by Civil Engineering Association (CEA) and Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) students' chapter.

This training programme intends to provide the participants a conceptual understanding of modern waterproofing materials, techniques and its practical implementation. Also the participants will be introduced to the concepts & applications of building information modeling in the industry. The training programme will be useful for the faculty members, students and research scholars.

Won first prize in TECHTOP '18

"Pneumatic Prosthetic team" led by Muhammed Janish U from MES College of Engineering, Kuttippuram won first prize worth one lakh rupees in TECHTOP '18 (13 th National Innovation Challenge Program) held at Kalasalingam University

For a low-functional mechanical leg called the Jaipur legs, about 150 amputees from different parts of the nation reach Jaipur everyday. Majority of them are poor and do tedious works for a living. A well-functional prosthetic limp with varying damping will cost around 35 lakhs(the American made 'C-Leg' ), which most could only dream of.

Many of the amputees are above-knee amputees which will make their rehabilitation even more challenging. Amputees who later became exceptionally good at their careers like Oscar Pistorius (the blade runner) and Sudha Chandran were all below knee amputees. We seldom know any above-knee amputees who later chased their dreams once being amputed. If amputees in the nation have great dreams to be fulfilled and work this hard, we felt that they deserve more than a low cost mechanical leg that merely provides support.

The team is very happy to inform that they have finally succeeded in replacing the servo valves (costs about 5 lakhs) in high-end prosthetic legs with low cost proportional solenoid valves without compromising safety and functionality. We have also been successful in controlling the proportional solenoid valves and feel proud in introducing it into the prosthetic field for the very first time.

Department of ECE, MES College of Engineering Kuttippuram is organizing a Two day Hands-on Workshop on “IOT” for PG/UG students on 1st-2nd March 2018 from 10.00 AM to 04.00 PM. This workshop is designed exclusively for students, getting hands-on with Raspberry Pi based Embedded system on the concept of Internet of Things (IoT). With the wide availability of Broadband Internet, the cost of connecting more devices to Internet has drastically reduced. Internet of Things has thus emerged which allows literally any device connected to the Internet, with an estimated number of over 100 billion devices within the next 5 years from now. This course introduces you to the amazing world of IoT and its fascinating applications, using a Raspberry Pi computer. This workshop includes controlling of devices by sensors and relays which makes human life easier and comfortable. A course fee of Rs. 500/- is chargeable from students. Workshop on “Robotics using Arduino”

Department of CSE, MES College of Engineering Kuttippuram is organizing Two day Hands-on Workshop on Robotics using Arduino for PG/UG students on 19th -20th January 2018 from 10.00 AM to 04.30 PM. This workshop is designed exclusively for students as well as professionals who are keen on getting hands-on with Robotics technology based on the concept of Internet of Things (IoT). Internet of Things is a new revolution of the Internet. A world where the real, digital and the virtual are converging to create smart environments that make energy, transport, cities and many other areas more intelligent. This workshop includes controlling of devices by sensors and relays which makes human life easier and comfortable. The students will work on ESP8266 Wi-Fi module and Sensors along with Arduino microcontroller. At the end of the workshop, participants would be able to receive an unparalleled education on the art of building robots & applications using Arduino and gain profound knowledge of IoT applications and related state-of-the-art. A course fee of Rs. 800/- is chargeable from students. The course fee includes course materials (if any) and participation fee.
